Laura Andrade, Ph.D. Dr. Laura Andrade is a Children's Services Administrator at Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Dr. Andrade holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and has worked over 20 years in community-based mental health and research. Most recently she has dedicated the last 11 years developing a Mental Health Assessment program at DCFS. Dr. Andrade is currently a Fellow at the Napa Infant/Parent Mental Health Fellowship. In addition, she leads the department's effort in developing best practices around the needs of young children in care.

This presentaton looks at the vast numbers of young children in the LA County Child Welfare System and creates a forum for conversation around the areas of prevention of child abuse and neglect for very young children. In addition she brings some ideas about practice recommendations around assessment of young children and how to support the parent/child and caregiver/child dyad to prevent child abuse later in life.
