Derrick Perez-Johnson, MA, MSW is a program manager with the L.A. County Dept. of Children & Family Services, the largest public child welfare agency in the nation. Mr. Perez-Johnson manages DCFS' Parents in Partnership program, which employs parent advocates who provide support and assistance to parents with open child welfare cases and their families. Mr. Perez-Johnson has been with the Dept. for 13 years. Mr. Perez-Johnson received his BA in Political Science in 1993 and his MA in International Political Economy / Public Policy in 1995 – both from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Perez-Johnson received his MSW in Social Welfare from UCLA in 2001, with specializations in public administration, policy analysis and development, and non-profit funding and organizing. Mr. Perez-Johnson is the father of three children and has been married for 18 years. Mr. Perez-Johnson is a resident of Long Beach and a member of the EALB board.

The DCFS panel will have Julie Emery, Desiree Burlile, and PIP Point, Pat McQueen.
